Cyanide is a chemical that stops your cells from using energy. We all need energy in our body and there are a series of chemical reactions inside cells which help to use the food we have taken in and convert it to someting the body can use. Inside cells there is a special power factory called the mitochondria. These little organelles take the chemicals from food and release their energy. Cyanide blocks this process inside the mitochondria and if the cell has no way of using the energy, then it dies.

If you eat cyanide, this happens all over the body and lots of cells die, then you die! Thats why its dangerous.
