I used to have cords in my fridge because my huse was between the hospital and work. So I would collect cords in the evening then store them overnight in my fridge then take them into work the next day. They were always wrapped in bags and kept in a container.

Now the maternity hospital is next to my lab so I can store the cords in a big walk in fridge at work.
