1 Question: Why do our eyelashes and eyebrows never continue to gow unlike hair on our head? Keywords: eyebrows, eyelash, hair Asked by emmagrace to Dalya, Derek, Sarah, Tim, Tom on 20 Jun 2011.
Dalya Soond answered on 17 Jun 2011:
Oh, but they do grow continuously, they just fall out quicker and are replaced by new eyelashes and eyebrows.
Tim Millar answered on 17 Jun 2011:
Eyebrows grow really quickly. I will have to trim mine i the near future before i can plait them or tie them in bows!
Derek McKay-Bukowski answered on 17 Jun 2011:
Yes, they certainly grow, but also fall out. After wiping another autumnal eyelash out of my eye, I can certainly vouch for that!
(Tim’s answer made me laugh!)
Tom Crick answered on 18 Jun 2011:
They certainly do — I’m worried that my eyebrows will grow out of control when I am older!
Remember, our ancestors used to have hair all over their bodies…
Sarah Thomas answered on 20 Jun 2011:
It takes 8 weeks for a full length eyelash to grow. Eyelashes and eyebrows don’t grow past a certain length because of their short life cycle. The cycle has a growing phase, a resting phase and then a shedding phase.
