I am a cell biologists, biochemist, immunologist kinda scientist which means I look at cells of the human body and see how they work.

I also lecture in Pharmacoilogy which is the study of drugs and how they work, and my reserach uses chemicals to work out how cells are doing their jobs.

I’m a computer scientist: I use technology and mathematics to solve problems! My current research is looking at the efficiency of next-generation microprocessors e.g. making multi-core processors more power efficient.

Soon, we will have machines with hundreds or thousands of processors — we need to:

      a) be able to use them all effectively and
      b) make them as power efficient as possible!

This is what I am trying to do…

      I’d like to think I’m a good scientist 🙂
But you probably meant what is my discipline….I am an immunologist. I study how the body uses its white blood cells to fight off infections and other diseases.

I am a biochemist. Chemistry is my main subject but I study the chemistry of biological molecules. I synthesise molecules in the lab that are designed for a specific purpose within a biological system. I work with techniques like fluorescence and the bioloigcal samples I work with are blood samples.

I am qualified as an astrophysicist.

However, I often explain my job as being a mix between astronomer and telescope-engineer. I also do work on atmospheric physics and sometimes space craft data… it varies a bit.
