Yes definately. I lost someone to cancer while I was studying at uni. The doctors said she had the tumour growing inside her for 8-10 years and hadn’t realised that she was sick. When she was finally diagnosed, they started the chemo immediately, but by then she was so weak, she couldn’t cope with the chemo and she couldn’t fight anymore.

I care so much about stopping that from happening to other people, and my main passion is to develop a diagnostic blood test to detect cancer in patients early. It feels good to be doing something that will hopefully one day save people’s lives.

On sunday, I am running the Edinburgh Race for Life in her memory and as a way of saying thank you to all the people that fundraise for cancer research uk and fund research like mine.
