Stomach sizes will be dependent onthe size of the person and how much it can distend (sewll) when food goes into it.

Some people can have a “hiatus hernia” this is where part of the stomach is above a layer of muscle called the diaphragm so food gets trapped in the wrong place, making people vomit and making it hard for the food to move through the intestine.

Sometimes drugs are given to stop the stomach acid from burning the food pipe or oesophagus which can help with the pain, but doesn’t cure the problem

Tim has got there first again!

      🙂

Just a small addition: this is essentially what is done to treat obesity — a gastric band is fitted around the top portion of the stomach to reduce its size and hence the amount of food that can be eaten.

There are other medical conditions that can cuase those symptoms. Has your friend been experiencing this for a while? I hope they have been to the doctor to get checked out. Other things that can cause vomitting after eating and a burning sensation inside are a bacterial infection called gastritis or a peptic ulcer.

But it is true than some people can have a smaller stomach than others. It depends on the person and how much you eat. That’s why if you have a really big meal at night, the next day you are really hungry at breakfast time! Because your stomach stretched with all the food the night before!

      Good answers from the others.

It may also be that there are certain food alergies that can cause people to vomit or feel ill after eating certain foods.
