• Question: Is it hard to become a scientist because I find science the hardest subject

      Sometimes it is hard, but some people (like me) also find it a lot of fun. Because we enjoy it, it makes it easier.

      With most things that are important in life, it can take determination and perserverance no matter how difficult or easy the topic is.
      But if you enjoy science and want to become a scientist, there shouldn’t be any reason why you can’t get there in the end.

      It can be hard, and not everyone will end up being a scientist, we need a mix of skills for us to prosper. It may be that one day all the information you have taken in wil just click and fall into place. Moments like that are fun because for such a long time you have been struggling up the mountain and finally you reach the top and now you can what all the effort was for, the wonderful view and the easy road home. Stick at it and see how it goes.

      Take it from me – you can do anything you put your mind to. Chemistry was my worst subject at school! I only got a C in my final exam. But I didn’t let it stop me. I knew that I wanted to go to uni and study medicinal chemistry. Exams were never my strong point but I knew that science is a practical subject and that I would do well because I’m a practical person and good at working with my hands. I maybe had to work harder than everybody else but because I was passionate about the subject and enjoyed learning it, I was happy to study.

      It can be hard, but that’s all part of the challenge — if you find it interesting and want to be a scientist, that is very important.

      I agree with Derek, if you find it interesting, it makes it appear much easier.

      Question for you: which part of science do you find easiest or most interesting?
