Everything you are describing sounds totally normal! I’m pretty sure almost every teenage girl goes through what you are! Mine were just like that for the first 2 years or so and it was a nightmare! I never knew when it was just going to arrive and sometimes I’d get cramps and sometimes not, and sometimes it would be heavy and sometimes light but then last for days!

The bad news is that there’s nothing you can do to balance them out, it’s just your body settling in to a routine that it’s going to have for the next 40 years of your life! All you can do is always be prepared and have stuff in your bag so that you are never caught out.

They will settle down and soon you will have completely regular and predictable periods. I used to know what time of day mine were going to arrive!!

Something you may want to think about as you get a bit older is going on the pill. It’s mainly given to stop women getting pregnant but it also balances out your periods. If you are having a total nightmare of it you can see your doctor and find out about getting the pill. Obviously it is free and easy to use. You take it for 21 days in a row, and then you have a 7 day reak during which your period comes. So it’s always regular and it’s much lighter too.
