I make £27,500 per year but I would rather be making £40,000 like Tim.

I’m also a lecturer and I earn the same as Tim…and I was also in a similar situation when I was a poor PhD student!

I get paid £13,000 a year which works out about £1000 a month. If you work it into an hourly rate it’s £6.25 an hour which is the same as a shop assistant would get! But it’s tax free and i’m still a student so I still get student discount in the shops that things! 🙂

Like Tom and TIm, I get paid £40,000 for my normal work. But I also do a lot of science work as a volunteer, where I don’t get paid at all.
