Weight can be gained depending on the amount of calories in a food. For example, you can eat as much lettuice as you can stand and would loose weight but only small amounts of fat like butter and put it on. Some people also use the energy from food so that it is not stored as fat within the body. There is some genetics life style mix that can control the soeed with which me metabolise food. Slow metabolisers are more likely to gain weight as fat compared to fast metabolisers

Being overweight is not just caused by food intake, it can also be caused by a genetic predisposition, a lack of exercise, medication and other illnesses.

Indeed, sometimes the little foods are the most fattening. A little bit of chocolate or butter or sugar contains a lot more energy or fat than fruit.

People also process that food differently. Some are more prone to storing it as fat than others.

Also, much of it comes down to exercise too. Even things like the difference between walking to school or going by car, can make a big difference the the amount of fat you burn off.
