Extreme dieting to make us “Skinny” can be very dangerous. Some people though are naturally “skinny” but are still healthy. Naturally skinny people tend to have a “high metabolism” they burn off energy more quickly than others because they have more brown fat so there is no extra to store as fat around the waist and every where else

Yes definitely — if you are not eating enough of the right things to ensure that your body can function correctly, then it can be very dangerous.

But by skinny, we mean an extremely low body mass index.

If you are natural skinny then you don’t have anything to worry about. It’s just a body type and you can be perfectly healthy but still super slim.

I have a friend called Emma who is the skinniest person I have ever met. She is less than a size 6 and has to buy childrens clothes to get things to fit her. She has a disease called IBS which means that food passes through her system really quickly, before her body gets a chance to absorb all the energy. She has to eat 6 meals a day and she still gets pretty ill and tired. But unfortunately there’s not much she can do about except try to look after herself.

Definitely yes! Check the other replies to this question… there are some good answers there and I certainly can’t improve on them.

Yes, it’s called anoerexia. This can occur because of eating disorders or because of diseases like cancer or because there is a shortage of food due to war or drought. You die because you starve to death.
